Student nurses from Kolej Sains Kesihatan Bersekutu, Sungai Buluh, Selangor (Federal Health Science College) had a field day at Pos Betau when 150 students and their50  tutors, turned up at the Ecolife Basecamp in Pos Betau to do their bit for the folks,from 3-5 Dec, 2016.

The compulsory outreach program for its 2nd year diploma students saw them setting up an open clinic to entertain about 100 Semai folks, spruced up the local Surau by giving it a new coat of paint and cleaned up the compound as well, had a free market to distribute used items and clothes, held a children's art competition, visited their villages, ran a telematch with the local folks including a tug-of-war, danced with them in a senamrobik/aerobic mass exercise and celebrate with them all day with food, until the evening.

the event was a collaboration between the college, Yayasan Kasih Tauhid and Yayasan Khalifah, both NGOs doing their bit for the orang asli community throughout the country. It was the biggest congregation ever held at Pos Betau since 2011, and the first for the college to interact with the Orang Asli community as part of its outreach programme cum training for its Diploma programme.

Kami sudah 'test' tempat ini. Dalam 3 hari 2 malam kami bertandang di sini, lebih dari 50 ekor ikan dapat dipancing, termasuk 2 ekor ikan pari (satu ekor pari lalat). Sebelah malam paling senang dapat ikan. Kami guna umpan cacing dan udang. Umpan boleh dibeli di banyak kedai, siang atau malam kerana bandar ini ialah pusat kaki pancing.

Jika malas nak tangkap ketam, drive saja ke pasar ketam di Merchong, lebih kurang 20 min saja dari bandar Kuala Rompin menuju ke Pekan. Datang sebelum 10 pagi sebab permintaan ketam sangat tinggi. Pakat-pakatlah ke sana. Memang berbaloi!

Over 3 days 2 nights, we caught over 50 different kinds of fish, including sting rays and mud crabs. Even prawns. You may also visit a crab market in Merchong, about 20 mins away if you want to buy large quantity of fresh crabs, but come early as demand exceeds supply.

Make a visit. It's really worth it!
